Raw Materials: Ada-an wood. Proportions of figure: Head too large; shoulders, buttocks, hips exaggerated. Arms dropped straight from shoulder, bent slightly (15-20 degrees) at elbow and placing hands on the legs at mid-thigh. Standing position: legs are upright and separate but bent slightly back from knee to hip with short thighs and long calves. Little or no indication of feet. Attachment to spoon bowl: Feet present with platform or pedestal. Torso shape: Heavy shoulders and heavy chest; stomach, waist hinted at; pelvis and hips heavy. Male: penis and gonads. Head ornamentation: Pointed head but no hat. Eyes: indicated by raised ovals; Nose: triangular ridge at juncture of cheek planes; Brows: carved lines; Mouth: incised line; Ears: protruding squares with pierces; Shape of face: two sharp cheek planes meeting in ridge. Jewelry: thick brass ring in one ear; round, flat shell bead in other ear. Shape of head and neck: Oval; short, thick. Standing figure: arms down at sides with hands at thigh position; legs short and stumpy. |
