Catalog Description | Nigu: Nigu (rice winnower) is a common household implement used to separate the rice hulls from the grains. An oval shaped winnower is called sakuku while the rounded one is called lideng. The nigu is made of bagtek, a thin variety of bamboo commonly grown in the locality. The bagtek is stripped lengthwise, scraped to make it more pliable then woven into designs. [p. 102-103] |
