Name: Bayadau (or badau). dagger and silver covered sheath - tinapikan.- (or ka). The blade is inlaid with silver "eyes". handle of carabao horn is overlaid with silver. Goes to two points and in center is a metal point about which the center finger of the hand is locked. A small cord holds knife in the sheath but is so light as to be easily broken when weapon is needed. This is the typical weapon of the Mandaya. belt of blue cloth attached. Made on the upper Cateel river of Eastern Mindanao. |
