[1115 was crossed out] | [Cursive capital L] | [BACK] The old men of this tribe claim that until recent years the bow and arrow was their sole offensive weapon. It is certain that today they have a greater variety of arrows and are more skillful in their use than any of their neighbor.s The bows are of palma brava, andare exceedingly hard, but of pliable wood; the strings are of rattan and are attached in a peculiar manner. The arrow shafts are made of reeds while the heads vary according to the sort of game for which they are used. So far as is known, the Bila-an of Davao Gulf do notpoison their weapons. |
