[1115 was crossed out with xxxx] | [BACK] The nomenclature used in the descriptions of Mandaya cloth made along R. Manorigao etc is given by garvin of the Binian of Science as follows. Dagmay- skirt. Kang-um:- When the warp has been dyed black with a concoction of kanaom bark. This is easily dyed but is notvery durable. Less valuable than other types. Liniba :- When warp is dyed red with root of sikádig shrub takes 2 whs and is good. Much more durable color. Binagakis :- A dagmay in which the design panels are narrow and of same pattern. So called from bak?s, binakus, agirdle made up of several strands of vegetable fiber (or hari) because these strips give impression of being strand of girdle. Pinalaoan :- When has one white band around the waist. Sinaklit :- when has several thin white bands at [around waist crossed out] equal intervals,so called from saklit.
