Bird Trap

A small tree with a crotch at the upper end is planted in the ground. An overhanging branch is bent down and a line attached to it. The other end of the line is made into a slip noose which lies on a trigger attached to the crotch. Bait is so fastened to one prong that a bird attempting to get it must stand inside the slip noose. The weight and movement of the victim releases the trigger and draws the cord tight about its legs. TINGUIAN. Northwestern Luzon, Philippine Islands. Robert F. Cummings Expedition. F.C.
