Name: Brass oblong box 18 x 9 x 8.5cm inlaid checker lid, loop handle at either end, continuing 2 small [along], hinged lid brass boxes and an octagonal brass box. Betel outfit. These boxes are made by native artists to contain the betel (areca) nuts and articles chewed with them. Some of the boxes are beautifully inlaid with copper or precious metals. The three smaller receptacles fit in the large carrying box. One holds the betel nuts, the second buyo leaves and the third lime. |
