Magdalena Arguelles painting

Painting owned by Magdalena Arguelles.The painting was made in 2009 in Chicago. Arguelles said her father Jose made it from memory at the age of 78. He was not a trained artist. Arguelles’ father gave her the painting as a gift. The painting depicts an island off of Iloilo called Nasidman Island, which is part of Ajuy, Iloilo. It is a private homesteaded island. The painting is signed “Arguelles 2009”. Arguelles said the painting is important because it is where she comes from.
