Title | Ira Escarilla-Carnate Photo Scan |
Description | Photo of Ira Escarilla- Carnate. Taken at the end of the school year around March 1994 by a professional photographer (TOCH Photography) in Manila. This photo was required for the yearbook. Escarilla-Carnate is pictured graduating from nursing school, wearing white nursingcap. This photo belonged to Escarilla-Carnate’s mother. This is important because Escarilla-Carnate wanted to be a nurse and go to UP Manila (Phil General Hospital.) She added that it was tough to get into UP and finished it on time because only 50 students were accepted for the 1991 school year in the whole country. She is theonly one from Iloilo who was accepted in her class. She remarked that her mother encouraged her to finish nursing school in Manila but her parents didn’t like her being alone there. Escarilla-Carnate remarked that it made her more independent and resilient.
