Alejandro Acierto Cigar Mold

Cigar mold owned by Alejandro AciertoAcierto said the cigar mold was probably used until the 1910s or 1920s. He acquired it 2-3 years ago from a storage unit that had belonged to his deceased grandfather. Acierto said the cigar mold has termite damage. Acierto’s grandfather worked in the pineapple industry, but Acierto’s grandfather’s father and brother worked in tobacco. Acierto thinks this cigar mold was a gift to his grandfather from his grandfather’s brother. Acierto was not sure of this, but said it was definitely a gift from one of his grandfather’s familymembers. Acierto said the cigar box was a “funny joke between them because of the termite damage.” Acierto thought it was probably given to his grandfather in the 1930s.Acierto brought the cigar box to be digitized because it related to another object he brought (surgeon’s tools/utensils). Acierto said it was funny because the termite damage on the cigar box represented nature disrupting the tobacco industry. Acierto’s grandfather toldhim about this object before he died. Acierto said it is a memory from his family. Acierto and his grandfather thought the cigar box was very funny because it was like nature sabotaging the American export (tobacco).
