Edwin P. Abaya Abel Iloko Towel

Abel Iloko (Hand woven) bath robe owned by Edwin P. Abaya.Made in the early to mid 1960s; given to Edwin by his mother in the mid 1960s. He left the Philippines in 1968 and brought this towel with him because his mother had passed away by then and it is a keepsake from her. It was the only monogrammed object he had, and he likesthat it looks like such quality work and they “didn’t misspell my name.” Vigan, Ilocos Sur, was known for hand weaving; they make clothing, towels, pashminas, etc. still today.
